Hiking in the Uwharries
Uwharrie is a great destination for families. Hiking paths wind through the forest and around the lakes. These trails offer broad views of some of the most beautiful scenery in the Uwharries. The Badin Lake trail is an enjoyable walk for everyone in the family. Ease of access is available from campgrounds and the Kings Mountain Point day use area.

Plan a hike into the Birkhead Mountains. This area is a must see. The lush forest envornment provides a remote wilderness experience. Four well marked trails will guide you through over 5000 acres of forest. The Thornburg Farm is a great starting point for this trip.

The Uwharrie Trail stretches across the ridgeline of the Uwharrie Mountains. There are two primitive campgrounds along the trail, West Morris and Yates Place. Dark Mountain and Dennis Mountain provides great views of the beautiful Uwharrie region. The 21 mile route is a great weekend tour.
